According to oral traditions, 'Prince Hall Grand Chapter O.E.S., Kansas jurisdiction was begun by Brothers from the Ohio
Jurisdiction in 1882 at Fort Scott, Kansas. The Chapters that came together to form Prince Hall Grand Chapter were Morning
Star No. 1,Fort Scott; EIectra No. 2, Kansas City; Adah No. 3, Osawatomie; Estella No. 4, Atchison; Myra NO. 5, Topeka; Queen
Esther No. 6, Fort Scott; Bethany No. 7, Topeka; Rebecca No. 8, Topeka; Fidelity No. 9, Leavenworth and Siloam No. 10, Lawrence.
The Chapters in Ft, Scott are no longer active. Olive Twig No. 1 has replaced Morning Star No. 1. Seven of the original ten
Chapters are still in existence.
Prince Halll Grand Chapter was formally organized in 1884. The first official Grand Chapter was held in Atchison, "Kansas
with Sister Fannie Camp as Grand Royal Matron and Dr. H.A. Lewis as Grand Royal Patron.

As Ohio was the Mother Jurisdiction of Kansas, the Kansas Jurisdiction became the Mother Grand Chapter to other Jurisdictions
as they developed into their own Jurisdictions. Some of them were Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Puerto Rico,
Utah, Wyoming and other States and Jurisdictions. During its formative years, Grand Chapter was known as the Kansas-Colorado
Jurisdiction and met in Colorado and Nebraska, as well as in Kansas.
There is much history in the name of the Sisters and Brothers responsible for developing and maintaining Prince Hall Grand
Chapter, O.E.S., Kansas Jurisdiction. We trust this history will be the beginning of future historical research such as oral
history, video recordings and documentary videos.
